History and Experience: After completing my studies I travelled abroad for what was supposed to be a year and returned about 8 years later. Upon my return I got involved in the travel industry dealing mostly with overseas destinations…..but with all my travels realised that my heart lays in South Africa and the African Continent and this passion has lead me to Jenman Safaris.
Favourite African Destination: So hard to say…….South Africa is amazing, I love the vastness of Namibia and Madagascar is an absolute gem but there’s still so much to discover on this continent.

Elana Tong

History and Experience: I have been very fortunate to work with a reputable Inbound Operator for 3 years before having the opportunity to work and learn at Jenman African Safaris. After completing my degree, I decided I needed to be in a field that is completely different to what I had studied and decided to pursue a career in tourism. It was the best decision that I could have made! Not only have I learnt more about South Africa and our neighbouring countries, I have also met a diverse number of people from all over the world.
Favourite African Destination: My own country - South Africa. Because there is such diversity between the different provinces.

History and Experience: After school, I worked for the largest hotel group in Zimbabwe – rising from sales manager, to divisional sales manager and eventual group reservations manager.  I have worked both in hotel sales and in marketing and my passion lies in the tourism industry. There is so much to show the world about africa!!!!
Favourite African Destination: I don’t have a favourite African destination yet, because each country is so different from a tourism perspective. But give me a beach and I’m happy!

History and Experience I grew up in Germany and after working in Hotels and Guesthouses in London, Berlin and Cape Town I knew that I wanted to work in the travel industry and decided to study tourism. During an internship in a travel agency I discovered that I wanted to step “behind the scenes”. After finishing my studies in Germany, I returned to South Africa and started as an intern at Jenman African Safaris, which gave me the wonderful opportunity to join the Jenman Safaris Team.

History and Experience I was born and raised in South Africa. After finishing my post-matric at the German School in Pretoria I left for Germany in order to study. I spent a few years in Regensburg, near Munich, after which I had my Bachelors Degree and then returned to South Africa, where I obtained my Honours Degree in Heritage and Cultural Tourism. I am excited to have got the opportunity to work for Jenman African Safaris, which enables me to show interested people from all over the world our unique continent that is so abundant in its diversity.
Favourite African Destination: For now, my adopted home-town, Cape Town. Apart from that, I wish to eventually have travelled to every destination Jenman Safaris has on offer. Then we’ll talk again.

History and Experience: I fell into tourism completely by accident.I dabbled in other unrelated things before that. I studied Medicine at the University of Cape Town. However the appeal of the Tourism Industry was too strong and I was completely drawn to it. I then went on to study Tourism Management at the Cape University of Technology. My tourism career  started at our National Carrier  SAA. I also had a two year stint at 1 Time.  I then decided to pursue a career as a travel consultant. I can can truly say it a great job , where I learn something new evryday ..not many people can say that. But I am happy to say I can!!
Favourite African Destination: At the moment I feel that Cape Town is the most beautiful city in Africa and the world. But I do plan on broadening my horizons so watch this  space……!

Brendan Jenman

After completing his Bachelor of Science degree with Zoology and Environmental and Geographical studies as majors, he spent two years travelling abroad. On his return to Southern Africa he undertook a botany project in Mozambique for 8 months and later joined his brother at his lodge in Zimbabwe. It was here that the Campwild concept was born. It would allow him to combine his passion for Africa with its environment and its ability to share all of its wonders. He returned to South Africa to do a postgraduate course in Business and Marketing Management and Jenman Safaris (then Campwild) has not taken a step back since.

Andrew Jenman

After finishing his studies in social science at the university of Cape Town Andrew went to work with a leading UK tour operator in London. He then returned to South Africa to set up their South African Branch. After this Andrew was looking for a new and challenging opportunity and joined Jenman African Safaris to head up a new and exclusive lodge division, African Luxury Hideaways. Andrew has travelled most of Southern and East Africa since 1993 and regularly does inspection trips to make sure the lodges we employ for African Luxury Hideaways meet the highest standards. All of our lodges are committed to the eco friendly standards and sustainable tourism levels that our clients expect. Having travelled extensively to most continents in the world, Africa is one of the few you can just keep going back to.

I’ve driven from London to Cape Town through North; West & Central Africa over 8 months and Africa’s hold just gets stronger. Cape Town has become my new home where I am exploring the joys of South Africa’s weekend getaways. I adore Africa and take every opportunity to help others experience her unrivalled wonders!

History and Experience:  Born and bred Capetonian!  I found my passion for HR about 10 years ago. HR positions held: Branch Manager for a leading recruitment company, HR Manager for a large retail company, Freelance HR/Recruitment consultant. I joined Jenman African Safaris in August 2007 as their HR Manager, in a half day position.  I thoroughly enjoy working with people and it gives me great pleasure knowing that I touch people’s lives in a positive way. I am by nature a curious person and love to travel to new places.  
Favourite African Destination: Other than South Africa, I have unfortunately not traveled into any other African countries as yet. I only recently had the pleasure of traveling to Italy for an amazing 3-week holiday. We own a farm on the outskirts of Napier which we try and get to at least once a month. I love the feeling of being close to nature and my favourite pastime at the farm, besides just chilling out with my husband, is watching hundreds of weaver birds come to their nests at 6 in the evening and the sounds of the frogs chattering and calling their mates about 1 hour later. We usually end the day off watching the stars and satellites passing overhead (weather permitting ofcourse!). There is nothing more beautiful!

I then went on to become an Assistant Front Office Manager, where after I was promoted to Hotel Controller. In 2006 after sailing the Bahamas, my husband and I decided to return to Africa and haven’t looked back since!

History and Experience: After having grown up in the Zambezi Valley in Zimbabwe, and finishing school in South Africa, I spent the next ten years as a Professional Hunter and Safari Guide operating mostly in the Zambezi Valley in Zimbabwe. I eventually reformed - gave up hunting and turned my hand to Game Ranching, but due to political turbulence in Zimbabwe, I moved up to East Africa where I spent the next seven years; initially running lodges in both Tanzania and Kenya and finally running a small Tourism Company in Kenya.
Favourite African Destination: The mighty Zambezi Valley is my home, and holds a very special place in my heart, but I love the diversity of Africa and the whole continent is fascinating to me. The people, cultures and the wilds of Africa are like no other place on Earth.

Alse (Ocean) Mhlanga

Special Subject: Equipment Maintenance.
Languages: English, Xhosa, Zulu and N'debele.
History and Experience: I have worked for Jenman African Safaris since its inception in the early 1990's. I am originally from Zimbabwe, but have lived in South Africa for many years. My principal duty at Jenman African Safaris is to take care of all the equipment used on our safaris. Before each tour starts, I prepare the vehicle and equipment and make sure that everything is in order before our guides go on safari. Making sure our guiding teams have the right equipment on safari is what is important to me.

Riaan Barnard

Languages: English and Afrikaans
Qualifications: FGASA Guide Level 2, First Aid, PDP (Professional Driver’s Permit), Business Administration and management.
History and Experience: I have been a tour guide for several other tour companies. My specialisations are nature guided tours and walks along the Garden Route.

I started guiding 6 years ago and travelled all over South Africa. I am also specialised in Wine Tours in Western Cape.
Favourite African Destination: Kalahari – a desert, which is part of the huge sand basin that reaches from the Orange River up to Angola, and Mozambique with its Southern Coast – are marvellous places to explore the African continent!

History and Experience: I fell in love with the African bush and started working in the travel industry when I spent time on a private game reserve in the lowveld. History and Experience: I grew up in Malawi and Zimbabwe. After finishing my schooling, I worked as a canoe guide on the Zambezi River, which I loved doing. A couple of years back, I came to South Africa and got the opportunity to work as a South African guide, which I am passionate about.
Favourite African Destination: Every country in the sub-Southern Africa Region has its own beauty, which is unique to it, in its own way.

Gregory Aloys Shetui

History and Experience: I grew up in the Tanga region Lushoto where I studied at Dar Technical College and got a certificate in engineering. I was working as an engineer for several years until I moved to Arusha. I attended various tour guide courses and training sessions. Since 1999, I have been a professional guide and enjoy showing people from all around the world the beauty of the African continent.
Favourite African Destination: Tanzania. The Serengeti with its tree climbing lions - try beat that!

Hely Rakotomanantsoa

History and Experience: Since I completed various tour guide courses, I have become an experienced guide and know the island of Madagascar very well. Additionally I attended trainings on group leadership in order to develop my skills as a professional guide. Guiding is my passion and I really enjoy providing our guests an unforgettable time and holiday in Madagascar.
Favourite African Destination: Madagascar; I've lived here my whole life and it has to be one of the most unique ecosystems in the world.

History and Experience: I have 11 years of overland experience and have been part of a few expeditions. I also did a Zambezi Wakka Expedition to raise money for anti-malaria campaign.

Charlotte McClughan

History and Experience: I grew up in a small Namibian town, Walvis Bay. Since I can remember, I wanted to be in nature and have the opportunity to cook. I went into hospitality and catering but four walls don’t do it for me. A couple of years ago I found that these two can be combined and saw the window of opportunity and took it with both hands. AND GUESS WHAT, I’ve never looked back. People, places, cultures, experiences- What more can I ask for?

Christine Lausanne Rauch

History and Experience: I completed my studies in East London. Worked in Cape Town as Traffic controller then went off to London and got back in 2000. Started my own photo portrait studio. Decided to spread my wings and therefore did the tour guide course and after that I haven’t looked back.
